This question has no right answer.
Therapists never have a good answer for “Why am I depressed?”, yet they love to ask “Why are you depressed?”.
In fairness to therapists, their job is to determine the root cause by asking you questions such questions.
Which doesn’t help so much when the root cause is “My brain is broken”…
Sometimes it helps to remind myself that I need not go looking for an external cause.
Sometimes it merely heightens the irony.
