This is perfect. Meaning perfectly describing my life and the mask I feel I need to put on for almost half my life, literally. And even though it’s sad, this comic really makes me feel better. Idk, I just found this site, and I just wanted to say thank you for helping me not feel so alone and having things to relate to.

But studies have shown that pretending to be happy actually helps. If you smile and pretend to be happy, you are likely to be influenced by your own smile.

    🙂

That includes sending smileys. I don’t know about you, but when I type smileys even when I’m not really smiling, I feel a little better.

I don’t think depressed people are so stupid they would believe their own pretending. Does not work for me anyway and I smile very often

I feel like whenever I lie about how I’m feeling it’s not to protect me, but to protect the people I’m speaking to. Like when you see in a movie where someone gets sad for not being able to tell someone something important, I feel like that. I feel like it’s important and my friends might want to talk, but I also feel like I’m protecting them from this well of darkness that they don’t need to fall in by hearing what’s really going on.

I hope things get better because it’s so tiresome wearing the “everything’s ok” facade. https://t.co/G0bv9ZmJcs
